Well, the Soulforce train has come and gone and I really think this was a great thing for ACU to go through. The group got here on Sunday night and they were greeted by faculty and staff with a hot meal. This was a first for the group. In their six previous stops they hadn't been offered a single meal. They also were very impressed with the fact that they were given name tags. They said that no one had asked their names yet. They said that this was the first time they felt like people actually cared about getting to know them as humans. My biggest fear about this for me was the buba syndrome. I was worried that some "good ole boys" would get in their trucks and hold up God Hates Fags signs and throw tomatoes or something. Luckily, none of this happened. For the most part ACU was extremely welcoming and hospitable. Some of the riders were sick and were treated by the ACU doctor. An atheist lady on the ride said that she was going to rethink her opinion of Christianity based on her experience here. She told someone that she hadn't ever met a Christian who didn't hate her until now. That is very sad. I think the best thing about this experience is that it got people to think. I don't think a single faculty, staff, or student has gone through the last couple of days without really considering what they believe about this issue, what it means to be a Christian in a secular world, the importance of love and hospitality, and I'm sure many other questions. Here is a picture of the police barricade blocking the Soulforce riders out of Oral Roberts University. I just don't see how this image depicts anything Christian, even with the praying hands in the background.

Well, this week has been a bit of a downer. A wonderful couple from Broadway was killed in a plane crash. That's so sad. I've heard that their family is doing well though.
I always get in this spring time slump. I'm totally overwhelmed with school. I get a little lonely. And I always start to think about Mr. C a lot. I've loved him since I was sixteen. Will I ever get over it? I don't know.
In a totally different direction... A group called Soul Force is coming to ACU this week. This is a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender organization that is going around to spread awareness at Christian and Military Universities. ACU is their sixth or seventh stop and the first school to actually allow Soul Force on campus. It should be pretty interesting to see what happens. All of the Bible grad students have a question and answer time tomorrow afternoon with them. The issue of homosexuality is really big right now. There have been a lot of things going on around campus this year concerning homosexuality and the church. This will be the next big issue that churches have to deal with and I must say it is much more important than issues like instrumental music and women's roles. So, let me encourage you to start studying and figuring out where you stand on the issue.

March Madness Baby!
I hate sports. Let me say this again, I hate sports. I grew up in a house of boys. My whole life consisted of me going from one game to another and then coming home to watch sports center. Once I even had a birthday party at the ball park because my mom couldn't miss just one baseball game. That seems a little messed up to me (but I'm not bitter). Did my brothers come to all of my choir concerts? No they didn't! So maybe I am a little bitter.
Even with these bad feelings towards sports, I absolutely love March Madness. I love filling out my bracket. Is there anything better than a 64th ranked team getting a chance to win the whole thing? I always cheer for the underdogs. I love the upsets. This tournament is what it's all about. I put my hatred towards sports on hold for this one event (and only this event!).
I'm feeling better than I was on Monday. My head is still all stuffed up though. I can't hear how loud I'm talking so I always feel like I'm yelling (but how is that different than normal?) I just hate being sick. It takes so long to recover.
I've found a new internet obsession. Myspace is pretty awesome. It's better than facebook. I've found so many people on there from high school. I loved high school. I had the greatest group of friends. We had so much fun. Ahhhh, memories.

My spring break was pretty quiet. I think I was the only person in my whole building. It was somewhat productive though. I got some school done and a little work too. This certainly wasn't my most exciting spring break ever, but it was still pretty good. I'm just glad I'm still at the point in my life when the word break is a positive one. We use it for things like spring break, coffee break, break dancing... I'm not excited for the time in my life when the word break is only negative, like break ups, break ins, and hip breaks...

Grey's:
Oh, Derek you are driving me crazy!
I love watching Christina try to live with George.

I've been doing a little research about my summer home: Kansas City. Here's a few pictures I found:
This is the farmer's market. It's been in operation since 1857.

Here are pictures of the KC Renaissance Festival. How entertaining.

Here is a cute animal found at the KC zoo. I just love zoos!

There ya have it. I think I'll be having a blast this summer.

**** Edit: Nate and Kristin did have their baby and he's really cute!! I have Nate's blog linked to the right! Jeffrey Jaxon Bundy, he's going to have a hilarious life.
Okay, this internet fast is total crap. I still read blogs everyday and I've been dying to update. So, in the grad tradition of my Lenten seasons, I didn't make it. What can I say, I'm weak!
Huge news: Nick Lachey had a fling with Kristin from Laguna Beach. Oh my goodness. That's crazy. She is a freshman in college. And he's like 30 or something. I'm still mourning over the divorce of Nick and Jessica, and he's out there whoring it up.
Spring Break is here! Unfortunately, part of growing up means that you no longer get spring break. So I will be spending my "days off" at the office and in the library. I've got to get started on my papers, or I'm going to fail out of grad school. I don't think my folks would like that too much.
Have you ever noticed that when you spell check your blog, the word "blog" comes up as a misspelled work. What's up with that? I'm at blogger.com updating my blog in blogworld. How can blog be a misspelled word?
Does anyone know if Nate and Kristin have had their baby yet?
Well guys, it's good to be back. Parting words: watch Grey's Anatomy tonight. It comes on at the same time as Knight School (I love that Bobby Knight!), so I tape Grey's, then I can watch it all week long! (Can you tell why I'm behind in school??)

Fat Tuesday
I decided to give up my unnecessary internet stuff for lent this year. That would include this blog (and reading all of yours). For my Mardi Gras celebration I just played an hour of Yahoo's best game: Chicken Invaders. Have a great season. See ya after Easter. (I will be checking my email at suemullican@yahoo.com)
While I'm gone, I'll leave with a great picture from McDreamy's Can't Buy Me Love days.

It's official. My decision making process is over. I will be spending my summer in Kansas City at the Overland Park Church. I know this will be a great opportunity for me. It's hard to make these types of decisions because I know I will be blessed no matter what I do. And it's so hard to turn down great churches and youth ministers. I am so blessed to have so many opportunities. This whole process has been so affirming to my call to ministry. The Lord is so good.

Well, I'm pooped. It's Lectureship week and God is doing some amazing things. Glory to Him. Plus I'm in the middle of internship interviews and it's wearing me out. Three today and six or seven tomorrow. Interview Sue is pretty extreme and she makes me tired. The good thing is I was able to purchase my first suit. I feel so professional. Not that youth ministers care about business suits, but I sure do look nice! I hope all of you out there in blog world are doing great. Good night, sleep tight.

Grey's Anatomy: NO FREAKING WAY!!!!

In the last two weekends I have been fortunate enough to go to the variety shows put on by my two schools. Since some of you readers missed these shows I will fill you in.
Master Follies:
What a great weekend. This show was the best one I've seen. Dr. Camp was the director this year and he did a great job. The hosts and hostesses were super. The club shows were a bit disappointing, but at least my old club won! Alumni breakfast was also wonderful. There were so many people there. And, so many babies. There must be something in the water.
Sing Song:
Drama, drama, drama. This year was the 50th show, so everything was a big deal. Plus it's the centennial. The Siggies definitely had the best show, but when the winners were announced, they got 3rd place. The whole audience moaned. As it turns out the scores were miscounted and the Siggies actually won. What a mess. My favorite part of the program was during intermission when the jazz band played the entire Sex and the City theme song. I thought this was a Christian school! (speaking of, I finally got the Sex and the City box set and it is awesome!) Overall, it was a great night. The hosts and hostesses were great too.
It's funny to watch the difference between these shows. It's very easy to see which school is richer!

60 minus 1
Today is my dad's 59th birthday. It's weird. I've never thought of my parents as old, but I've always thought of 60 as old. And my parents are knocking on the door of 60. I can't really handle the thought of then getting old. So I'll just sit here in denial and refuse to think about it.
Happy Birthday Pops!

What is it about driving alone that makes you so emotional. I just drove back from Dallas and cried while I was on the road. I never cry, so that's a big deal. Now I'm in this really mellow pensive mood. For some reason this is a common occurrence for me. I'll be perfectly pleasant and then after an hour of driving I start thinking about all of the people I love, and all of my hopes and dreams, and about how I really want to get married, and about the wonders of being a child of God (as well as a child of Betty and Larry) and I start getting really emotional. Does this happen to any of you peeps out in blog world? Or am I just crazy?
Anyways, my class this weekend was great. I met some great people who are ACU students, but don't live in Abilene. I'm really excited about being a minister. I just hope I'm ready when the time comes.
Lastly, here is a great picture of my niece Kaelan. She really is the cutest. She has six teeth now. That is nuts. She'll be one in March. I can't believe it's already been this long. I love this picture because she looks mischievous. This is a quality that she gets from her aunt Sue.

Hymn to a Good Wife
10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
